Preparing for your Boudoir Session

Tips to Prepare for Your Boudoir Session

Choose your Clothes.

We’d suggest this is a good opportunity to go out and select something glamourous – pamper yourself to some really good lingerie. (But don’t forget to remove the labels). Underwear and lingerie is great. Body suits are highly suggested. Try to avoid Baby dolls(While making you feel like you are covered) they are not always the best route for boudoir photos, they are not as flattering and often make you look frumpy.

If lingerie is not for you, that’s fine: swimwear, a sports top, oversized sweater, tailored man’s shirt, or tight shirt and shorts are all terrific alternatives. Men really love women in men’s shirts – especially if it is his!

Remember Accessories. Choose items which go with each outfit. In general we suggest keeping it simple and tasteful. Too much jewellery can be distracting in the photographs. Also select footwear to go with each outfit. You don’t need to bring hundreds of items, but on the other hand better to have it that not.

Remember Special Items.

Bring something significant to your partner, maybe dog tags, sports gear, hobby equipment?

Beauty Preparations Before the Shoot.

We suggest that anything you get done is done well in advance of the shoot. So eyebrow shaping, hair cuts, manicures, waxing etc should all be done a few days before to make sure everything has settled down.

Tanning

Please do not use fake tan within 2 weeks of the shoot. Any slight unevenness really shows up in pictures. Equally if you are thinking of tanning beforehand, do it well ahead and avoid tan lines. We can always apply an even tan in photoshop afterwards, but fixing uneven tanning is really hard and may have an extra charge.

Makeup and Hair.

We really recommend that you have your hair and make-up done in studio. I love to help and completely understand how to make you look fantastic for photography and it is one less hassle so you can be relaxed on the day. I do highly suggest investing a gorgeous set of false lashes for your session.

Just Before the shoot.

Drink plenty of water a day or two before to get your skin nicely hydrated and healthy. Shave or defoliate a couple of days in advance, so everything has a chance to settle down. Eat a light breakfast to avoid bloating. Please don’t wear tight clothes, bras, knickers, socks on the day, they leave red indents in the skin.

This is your chance to be excited! You are going to see yourself as the beautiful woman you are! I cannot wait to share this experience with you.
